Our Privacy Promise
America's Melting Pot is a recipe and food-history archive, not a data broker. We do not sell your personal information, rent it to advertisers, or use your saved recipes, shopping list, photos, or community activity to build advertising profiles.
We only use information to provide the app features you ask for, keep the community safe, preserve contributor credit, and improve the archive.
What the App Uses
If you create an account or use app features, America's Melting Pot may use your account details, public display name, saved recipes, saved collections, shopping list, recipe visits, photo drafts, reviews, community recipes, community posts, and reports you choose to share.
You can browse much of the archive without posting anything. Public community contributions are only public when you choose to submit them.
Photos, Camera, and Notifications
If you choose to add a dish photo, the app may ask for camera or photo-library access. If you start a cooking timer, the app may ask for notification permission so your phone can alert you when the timer is done.
The app does not turn on your camera, open your photo library, or send timer notifications unless you choose that feature and give your device permission.
Saved Items on Your Device
Some helpful cooking details, such as recent recipes, checked-off ingredients, and shopping-list items, may be kept in the app so they are easy to find again.
These saved cooking tools are meant to help you in the kitchen. They are not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.
How We Use Information
We use information to run the app, keep your saved items available, moderate community contributions, credit contributors, improve recipes and stories, protect the archive, and respond when you contact us.
When Information Is Shared
We may use trusted service providers for hosting, database storage, authentication, file storage, analytics, and app functions. They only receive what is needed to help operate the app.
We may also share information if required by law, to protect the app and community from abuse, or to respond to a security issue. We do not sell your personal data.
Your Choices
You can choose not to upload photos, not to post publicly, and not to allow notifications. You can also contact us to ask for corrections, account help, or removal of content you submitted.
Signed-in users can request deletion of submitted data or delete their account at Delete account and data.
