Directions

1. Prepare and bake cake according to package or recipe instructions; cool completely.
2. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form to make whipped cream frosting.
3. If desired, mix a small amount of red food coloring into part of the whipped cream for a red layer.
4. Slice cake horizontally into 3 layers.
5. Frost bottom layer with white whipped cream and scatter strawberries on top.
6. Place second layer, frost with red-tinted whipped cream and add blueberries.
7. Top with third layer and a thin layer of white whipped cream; decorate with remaining berries to resemble the flag.
8. Chill briefly before serving to set layers.
